The consolidated sales revenue in the LCD sector from the 4 major Taiwan panel makers reached NTD 75.80 billion, a 2.5% decrease MoM and also an increase of 162.06% during the same period of last year. The aggregate large-sized panel shipments in December were up by 0.7% to 19.05 million units; compared to last year, the figure rose by 118.4%.

Taiwan Sales performance

Consolidated revenues of the four major Taiwan-based panel makers declined by 2.5% MoM in December. Compared to the 21% MoM decline at the same time last year, this figure indicates that the market is currently at a stronger down cycle, this is evidenced by: First, the downstream manufacturers are optimistic about the Chinese New Year sales, and continued to stock up. Second, favorable policies implemented in China to promote positive development in the panel industry. Finally, panel prices have rebounded since December 2009. Revenues of the four major panel makers were fairly maintained compared to November – AUO and CMO declined by 3.4% and 3.8% to 37.104 billion and 28.736 billion respectively, while CPT and HSD grew by 4.4% and 5.7% to 6.056 billion and 4.653 billion.

Taiwan Shipment

Shipment-wise, large size panel shipment in December only AUO affected by NGE’s glass issue，down by 2.4% MoM to 9.1 million units. On the contrary, CMO, CPT, and HSD were up by 0.9%、10.4%、14.8% MoM to 7.131 million、1.822 million、0.995 million units respectively . In terms of small and medium size panel shipments, HSD posted the biggest growth, where it rose by 70.7% MoM to 7.739 million units. Meanwhile, AUO, CMO, and CPT each were down by 13.7%, 36.3%, and 19.4% MoM to 15.82 million , 9.099 million, and 16.701 million units.
