Published Jan.11 2010, 12:00AM (GMT+8)

Between December 28th and January 11th, MCI index surged 433.8 points from 6483.1 points to 6916.9 points. MCI has been rising since 2HDec 2009. Brand vendors continue to stock up in preparation for Chinese New Year sales, which is expected reach its target, prompting strong demand in 1Q10. The market showed a stronger down cycle and panel prices rebounded. Panel prices rose early January, in particular, panel prices for mainstream monitor sizes even reached a 3-4% increase. Furthermore, driven by China’s favorable policies, worldwide panel makers are aggressively setting up high-technology facilities in China. In light of the abovementioned positive stimuli, market consensus is that the future outlook in the panel industry is optimistic, and that MCI will continue to rise.
