According to the latest survey by WitsView, a research division of TrendForce, MCI index rose by 205.4 points to 7051.9 points from September 6 and September 20 2010. MCI index increased above the 20-day average, reflecting that the market took a positive attitude toward the traditional peak season for consumer electronics in 4Q10 due to the following: firstly, according to a WitsView’s survey on monthly panel shipments, TV panel shipments posted an increase for two straight months which indirectly made up the loss from IT products in July and August. Secondly, panel makers have started to reduce glass input since July which has begun to take effect gradually, and soften the price decline for IT products. Finally, the problem of high inventory level from 2Q10 was solved strategically; thus, since the capacity and inventory problem have gradually became softer, MCI index rose by more than 200 points, reflecting that the sales performance will turn better in 4Q10.
