New model launch in Q2 to stimulate panel demand
Published Apr.07 2010, 12:00AM (GMT+8)

Between March 22nd and April 6th, MCI index surged 323 points from 7401.4 points to 7723.9 points. Although MCI is at a high confidence level, the market is currently in a down cycle, with rising inventory level; hence, except for the tight supply of 32-inch TV panels, due to component shortages, prices of >37-inch TV panels showed substantial pressure of decline in April. To China’s TV and PC makers, inventory clearing before Labor Day holiday is a main focus while investing in the LED TV market. At this stage, China’s TV and PC makers’ strategies are more conservative, but after inventory gradually clears away in future, the introduction of new spring models in 2Q10 will likely stimulate demand from restocking. Therefore, with new model launches in 2Q10, and the upcoming Soccer World Cup which will drive up demand in Europe, the market holds high levels of expectation toward demand in future.
