Between February 8th and February 22nd, MCI index rose 102 points from 6326.8 points to 6429.2 points. The index rebounded after a 400 point tumble, while the 20-day and 60-day average returned to the 6500 point level. In February, China’s domestic demand during Chinese New Year continued to drive up demand momentum, and stimulated the panel price rally; hence, panel shipments in 1Q10 are expected to be in line with that of 4Q09. Amid the simultaneous rise in price and demand in the overall market, future outlook remains optimistic. In addition, before Chinese New Year holiday, Taiwan government eased restrictions on local TFT- LCD companies, allowing them to invest in China. This move will enhance Taiwan makers’ competitiveness in future. On the whole, the optimistic future outlook led to the stabilization of MCI index.
